Case Study: Chint

Chint came to us with the need to create from scratch a web platform capable of managing its extensive product catalog and offering an optimized experience for users. The platform needed to include an efficient search system within the catalog, a support section to download technical resources, integration with SAP to reflect daily catalog updates, and a robust content management system (CMS) that would allow the Chint team to easily update content.

To address these needs, we selected Ibexa DXP (formerly known as EZ Platform) as the basis for development. This system, built on the powerful Symfony framework, allowed us to create a modular, scalable platform that was completely adaptable to the technical requirements of the project. Thanks to its Symfony-based architecture, Ibexa DXP offers a solid infrastructure to handle large volumes of data, advanced integrations, and customization, making it an ideal solution for projects with the complexity of Chint’s catalog.

The main challenge was to ensure an integration between SAP and the web, allowing the product catalogue, with its large number of references, to be updated daily without errors or service interruptions. At the same time, we had to ensure that browsing and searching for products and resources on the website was fast and efficient, despite the volume and complexity of the catalogue.

To address Chint’s challenges, we designed and developed a new web platform from scratch, with a focus on integrating with SAP and efficiently managing their extensive product catalog. The goal was to build a scalable and optimized solution that would not only synchronize daily updates from SAP, but also offer a smooth and fast user experience when browsing the catalog.

The solution implemented for Chint included several key steps:

Daily SAP Sync: We designed an automated integration system that pulls SAP updates daily and processes them so they are instantly reflected on the web. This ensured the catalog was always up-to-date without the need for manual intervention.

Search and Display Optimization: We implemented an advanced search engine that efficiently indexes catalog references, improving query speed and user experience.

Performance Management on Ibexa DXP: We tuned Ibexa DXP settings to handle the high data load, optimizing database structure and caching.

Automation and Scalability: We developed automated scripts to ensure updates from SAP did not interfere with site performance, even during times of high traffic.

Since the launch of Chint’s new web platform, the catalogue is automatically updated daily, reflecting data from SAP. Users can now quickly and efficiently browse the extensive product catalogue, perform searches both within the catalogue and in the support section. The integration between SAP and the new website has allowed the Chint team to centralise their operations and reduce the manual burden on catalogue management. In addition, the infrastructure created ensures that the platform can scale efficiently, adapting to the growing needs of the business.
